About the Program

The Turnabout Program is housed at Plainfield Academy. Students are referred to the program by the Board of Education after an Expulsion Hearing, as laid out in the Illinois School Code (Section 5.13A-0.5 to 5/13A-11).

The Turnabout Program serves the four high schools of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202:

  • Plainfield High School - Central Campus
  • Plainfield East High School
  • Plainfield North High School
  • Plainfield South High School

The program runs Monday thru Friday from 1:10 p.m. to 6:17 p.m.

The Turnabout Program follows the District 202 school calendar and curriculum maps, with a few exceptions for some classes offered due to space availability and state requirements.

The Turnabout Program is primarily an evening program that holds classes from 1:10 p.m. to 6:17 p.m. High School students that have been referred to the Turnabout Program have not been expelled. They have been offered the alternative program, though there may be some restrictions in terms of their participation in graduation.

Clarification on Plainfield Academy's Day Program

The Plainfield Academy's day program is an alternative school for middle and high school students. Referrals to Plainfield Academy come from a student's home school Pupil Personnel Services (PPS), Building Student Assistant Team (BSAT) or Individual Education Plan (IEP) team. Students in the day program are Special Education students. However, if they are in good standing, they are allowed to graduate with their home school class. Students must apply through their guidance counselor or their home school team for recommendation to Plainfield Academy.
