The Plainfield School District Foundation for Excellence is pleased to announce that Mr. George Capps, Retired Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, is the 2005 Walter G. and Juanita F. Niehus Award recipient.

Mr. Karl Smith submitted the nomination that was signed by approximately 75 teachers. On the nomination form Karl outlined the attributes that make George Capps so special.

…One only need to look at the Plainfield community to see the positive impact his life has made on the lives of others.

…There are countless numbers of students who have gone on to experience all the success life has to offer because of George and his leadership.

… Plainfield is a better place because of the contribution of this one remarkable man.

…He provides support and encouragement for the students and teachers of this district.

…George is exceptionally intelligent, extremely dedicated and the greatest advocate of students and teachers this district has ever seen.

…He has touched the lives of so many people in ways that will continue throughout the years to come.

The Foundation for Excellence is most pleased to add George Capps’ name to a truly outstanding list of previous Niehus award winners. Mr. Capps is the twentieth recipient of the Niehus Award, which has annually been presented since 1986. The Niehus Award is bestowed in honor of Walter G. Niehus, former Superintendent of District 202.
