A Plainfield South High School Junior is this year's recipient of the Artistic Discovery Award presented by The United States House of Representatives through its 24th Annual Congressional Art Competition.
The student's artwork will be on display at the Nation's Capitol building from July of this year for one consecutive year. A secondary award allows immediate acceptance into the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design which includes a $10,000 scholarship to attend the college.
"We are very proud of -- his -- achievement and the artistic talent of his pen and ink drawing," said art teacher Josette Twait. "The drawing is spiritual in nature that inherently describes the Roman Catholic Trinity as it relates to -- his -- life."
This is the second year Plainfield South High School has participated in the competition with both year's resulting in a Cougar student winning the award.
