Drauden Point Students Present Service Learning Project
Drauden Point Middle School Team 6E students are inviting community members to share
in the culmination of its Service Learning Project, Books for Babies, which will
take place on the evening of Wednesday, June 1 from 7:00-8:30 PM in the Drauden Point Middle School cafeteria and gym.
With the project, titled "Making a Difference in Little Lives, Little by Little" sixth grade students have built upon the legacy created by former Plainfield students, taking $3,146 from the community to create Early Reading Kits (a bookbag containing a first hardcover book, a bookmark, a parent bibliography, as well as a letter explaining the importance of early reading) for the area's newest babies and their families. With the help of local pediatricians and hospitals these kits will start distribution as early as the first week in June.
This program will celebrate the accomplishments of the students as they share their growth throughout this process. Pulling together talents and technology, students will showcase all their learnings: sharing (all student-planned and created) speeches, powerpoints of project statistics, an I-Movie , as well as sharing samples of the final book kits before they are released for distribution. At the end of the evening, cake and punch will be served as well.
