Team 6E sixth grade students at Drauden Point Middle School would like to invite District 202 elementary school families on the evening of March 2, 2005 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. for a "Read Across America Carnival of Reading."
A component of their service learning project, "Books for Babies," the students have designed this time to be a time to encourage students and their families to celebrate the joy of reading. The are planning
activities ranging from Facepainting/Tatoos, Read-Alouds, Bookmark Making, Reader's Theater, a Book Swap, A Book Walk, as well as a miriad of other fun things for families to do.
The event is entirely free. Any donations/proceeds will go towards the creation of new family book kits to be distributed to our communities newborns via our local hospitals and pediatricians.
