Eighth grade students attending Drauden Point and Ira Jones Middle Schools will take the EXPLORE Test, the placement test for incoming freshmen, as follows:
- Saturday, December 11, 2004

Students should finish the test by 11:30 a.m. Those students taking the writing sample for Honors English placement will finish by Noon.
The EXPLORE Test is a 3 ½ hour assessment that will measure the students’ abilities in English Usage, Mathematics, Reading and Science Reasoning. The department chairpersons at Plainfield South use these results as well as the student’s current performance to make placement recommendations for the fall of 2005.
Plainfield South High School will host EXPLORATIONS 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on BOTH of the following dates:
- Tuesday, February 15, 2005 for 8th grade students and parents from the Drauden Point Middle School attendance area AND
- Thursday, February 17, 2005 for 8th grade students and parents from the Richard Ira Jones Middle School attendance area.
- Parents and students only need to attend one of those evenings.
At EXPLORATIONS 2009, the course selection process, the freshman experience, the variety of available school activities, and other school related information would be explained.
This is a very important time in the life of your student and we look forward to easing the transition to high school. The placement testing is a very necessary component to our advisement process. We look forward to working together with you and your student in the high school experience. If you have any questions, please contact Ken Decker at Plainfield South High School, 815-439-5540.
Additional information will be mailed to your home prior to the testing date.
Please note that the campus hosting the EXPLORE test and the Explorations night is not necessarily the campus students will attend for the 2005-2006 school year. Attendance zones will be established after winter break.
