Lincoln Elementary plans Family Reading Night

Lincoln Elementary School will be celebrating their second annual Family Reading Night on Wednesday, March 2. The theme is "We treasure Reading at Lincoln Elementary." All Lincoln families are invited to attend.

That evening, the book fair will be open from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. The rest of the activities will take place from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Games and crafts will be related to the treasure theme. Special guest readers will include Dr. Harper, Mr. Gluck, Mrs. Szurek, firefighter Mr. East, Sergeants Hilliard and Dickson, Mrs. Stroer (Art), Ms. Loeschel (P.E), Reader's Theater and Mrs. Carey from the Plainfield Public Library. Refreshments will also be available.

During the evening, families will be encouraged to guess the weight of the pennies that have been collected during our Pennies for Reading week. The money will be used to bring an author to Lincoln for student assemblies. Last year, students collected over $1,000 and the money was used to bring author W. Nikola Lisa to Lincoln.

Family Reading Night will also mark the beginning of Lincoln's Gently Used Book collection. Any students who donate gently used books will receive coupons for free bags of popcorn. The gently used books will be donated to the teachers' classroom libraries.

Family Reading Night is being organized by Judy Olson, Media Specialist, Cathy Panozzo, Reading Specialist, and the Family Reading Night committee.
