Plainfield High School Central Campus hosted a Reality Store and Career Fair on April 27th. The sophomore students had to imagine being 25, earning a living, and working to budget their "real life" expenses.
In addition to the Reality Store, the students attended three career
presentations, a Career Cruising website class, and participated in an
activity facilitated by members of the P.E. Department. It was a
complete reality and career experience.
Community business members
volunteered to become educators for the day to help students through the
activity. Harris Bank, Jewel Food Store, Realty World and Plainfield
Park District returned this year as some of the community volunteers who
have so generously donated their time.
Plainfield Junior Village, SBC,
Illinois Department of Employment Securities, Chestnut Credit
Counseling, State Farm Insurance, Wal-Mart, Nicor, Country Insurance, D'Arcy Motors and Aldi joined us this year. Many Career
Specialists were at hand to present to the students all aspects of their
profession. Teachers, policemen, FBI agents, models, counselors, chiropractors, nurses, automotive professionals, and photographers only
name a few!
Here are some of the people students were able to talk
with during their experience:
- Sandy Ragland, Nurse, St. Francis Hospital (Guest Speaker)
- Larry Olson, Crime Scene Investigator, Ill State Police
Depart. (Guest Speaker)
- PDRM0051 Mark Griglione, Harris Bank (Reality Store)
