The Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education has placed a school construction referendum on the April 5 ballot. The referendum would support a construction program to build and equip 8 schools as well as renovate and repair existing campuses. The tax impact for the average homeowner ($250,000 home value) would be approximately $39.17. This 5-cent tax increase would be seen on the 2006 tax bill and then the rate is estimated to remain stable.
The District and Citizens for Classrooms, an independent citizens committee, will be hosting meetings throughout March to provide information to the community and to answer questions about the referendum. Community members are encouraged to attend an upcoming meeting to learn more.
