Three female students represented Plainfield South High School in the 2005 Technical Ambassadors Competition sponsored by the University of Illinois. They edged out third place Bartlett High School and second place Homewood-Flossmoor in the statewide competition to receive the first place award.
The purpose of the statewide competition is to encourage more young women to consider a career in Computer Science. Each team entered into the competition designed a computer software tool for use in a non-for-profit institution. The PSHS students designed an interactive HTML tutorial in the flash environment. They each received a $250 award for their first place finish. The Technical Ambassadors Competition is made possible by the National Science Foundation and through gifts from the Microsoft Corporation.
