
Plainfield South High School students had the opportunity to learn about Emmet Till, a 14-year-old black boy who was murdered in 1955 after allegedly whistling at a white woman in Mississippi, from Emmet's cousin Wheeler Parker. Students had recently read
Mississippi Trial, 1955, a historical fiction young adult novel about the Emmet Till case. Mr. Parker shared his first-hand experiences about the case and its impact on the Civil Rights movement.
