Plainfield South celebrating Foreign Language Week
The Modern Language Department at Plainfield South High School is
celebrating National Foreign Language Week from March 20-24. Activities
during the week will honor the three foreign languages taught at the
school - French, German and Spanish - as well as the diversity that many
native speakers of language other then English contribute to the school
community.
The three languages will each have their own day-long celebration
during the week. On Wednesday, March 22, the French, German and Spanish
Clubs performed in an assembly for students taking a foreign language.
On Friday, March 24, the student body will be able to enjoy the sounds
of Creole Stomp in the school foyer.
National Foreign Language Week was started in 1957 by Alpha Mu Gamma,
the Foreign Language Honor Society, to spread awareness about the
importance of knowing and studying a second language.
Plainfield South, one of three high schools in Plainfield Community
Consolidated School District 202, is located at 7800 W. Caton Farm Road
in Plainfield.
