Diversity photo exhibit to visit Heritage Grove, Plainfield North
A traveling photo exhibit that focuses on diversity among families will
appear at Heritage Grove Middle School and Plainfield North High School
in April. "In Our Family: Portraits of All Kinds of Families" will
run from April 3-19 at Heritage Grove, and move to Plainfield North
later in the month.
The photo exhibit is designed for audiences of all ages, and helps to
challenge stereotypes by celebrating differences of all kinds. At
Heritage Grove, the exhibit will complement a unit within the seventh
and eighth grade Accelerated Language Arts classes that focuses on
understanding of culture and diversity.
All students in these courses will develop projects focusing on
diversity, ranging from the creation and sharing of ethnic food to
designing a family portrait scrapbook of their own families. These
student projects will be incorporated into an Open House exhibit on
April 6. The open house is open to the community and begins at 6:30
p.m.
The photo exhibit will appear at Heritage Grove and Plainfield North
because of a campus grant from the Plainfield School District 202
Foundation for Excellence, which supports the mission of Plainfield
Community Consolidated School District 202 by enriching and
supplementing educational programs and experiences.
Heritage Grove, one of five middle schools in District 202, is located
at 12450 S. Van Dyke Road in Plainfield. Plainfield North, one of the
district's three high schools, is located at 12005 S. 248th Street in
Plainfield.
