River View penny drive nets nearly $4,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
The student council at River View Elementary School recently completed
a highly successful Pennies for Patients Drive, which benefited the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The school raised $3773.23 in its
effort.
Now in its fourth year, the River View Pennies for Patients Drive
brought in just less than $1500 last year, and the school easily
surpassed its goal of $2000 for this year, thanks to the generosity of
the students and families in the River View community.
Jane Matlock's fifth grade class won a pizza party by bringing in the
most money ($307.67) of any class in the school. Other winning classes
by grade level - Deb Fitzgerald (4th grade, $284.41), Kate Sommer (3rd
grade, $237.37), Danielle Schultz (2nd grade, $213.88) and Marci Eamon
(1st grade, $212.19) - received a treat party for their work.
River View, one of 14 elementary schools in Plainfield Community
