Plainfield Central teachers ready for shorn scalps
The Plainfield High School-Central Campus Key Club is encouraging
students on campus to donate funds so some of their teachers will lose
their hair. From now through April 18, the Key Club will be accepting
donations for Teachers Shave to Save Kids, a fundraiser for Pediatric
Cancer Research.
Nine teachers have committed to shaving their heads if the school
reaches certain donation levels.
At $50 raised, physical education instructor Jason Hermann will get the
ball rolling by meeting the razor. At $100, special education teacher
Philip Coats will have his head shaved. The rest of the schedule
includes:
Math teacher Matt Clark - $200
Substitute teacher Marek Dron - $500
Science teacher Dave Jackson - $800
Science teacher Dave Rahtz - $1000
English teacher Peter Mannoja - $1200
Science teacher Jodi Maxstadt -$1500
Math teacher Kim Mattern - $3000
Key Club members will collect money during lunch periods, and
collection cans will also be available in all science classrooms, the
school's main office and the office of the Freshman Center. Checks
should be made payable to Plainfield High School-Central Campus.
Community members are also encouraged to participate in the fundraiser.
All money raised will be donated to the Children's Oncology Group for
pediatric cancer research.
Plainfield Central, one of three high schools in Plainfield Community
Consolidated School District 202, is located at 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive
in Plainfield.
