Harriet Tubman to stop at Lakewood Falls on February 28
Harriet Tubman, conductor of the Underground Railroad, will make a stop at Lakewood Falls Elementary School on Tuesday, February 28. Tubman, who is portrayed by an historical perspectives actress, will attend assemblies at the school throughout the day.
Tubman will present her life through story form, ranging from her days as a carefree youngster to 1849, when she finally escaped to freedom through the Underground Railroad.
The presentation is part of the school's celebrations of Black History Month and Women's History Month, which begins on March 1.
Lakewood Falls, one of 14 elementary schools in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, is located at 14050 S. Budler Road in Plainfield.
