Students at Plainfield South get visit from Operation Iraqi Freedom vet
Students in Randi Oehlke and Lisa Simon's service learning classes
and the SCORE program at Plainfield South High School recently got a
visit from SPC Michael Vivirito, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The visit was part of the school's celebration of Yellow Ribbon Week
from March 13-17.
Vivirito spoke to the students about his experiences in Operation Iraqi
Freedom. He also added that the students' efforts in packaging much
longed for food in conjunction with Operation Care were both necessary
and appreciated by U.S. servicemen and servicewomen.
Students involved in the service learning program wrote letters to men
and women serving in Iraq as part of Yellow Ribbon Week as well.
Plainfield South, one of three high schools in Plainfield Community
Consolidated School District 202, is located at 7800 W. Caton Farm Road
in Plainfield.
