"Into the Woods" to play on Plainfield Central stage in April

The stage at Plainfield High School-Central Campus will be littered with some fairy tale characters gone awry when the school's drama department puts on "Into the Woods." Plainfield Central's spring musical, directed by Loretta McCarthy, Matthew Schlesinger and Bridget Taylor, will run from April 7-9.

Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods" is based on James Lapine's book, which details a story about a baker and his wife who learn they've been cursed with childlessness by a witch who lives next door. While embarking on a quest to break the spell, they lie to and steal from Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack (of beanstalk fame), which greatly changes those characters from what we're used to.

Plainfield Central's run of "Into the Woods" begins on Friday, April 7, with a 7:30 p.m. show. The show on April 8 will also begin at 7:30 p.m., while the curtain goes up at 2 p.m. on April 9.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students with a valid ID, seniors, faculty and staff and children. Tickets can be purchased in the main office at Plainfield Central, or by calling Audrey Stein at (815) 436-3200, ext. 1122.

Plainfield Central, one of three high schools in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, is located at 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive in Plainfield.

For more information, contact Schlesinger at (815) 436-3200, ext. 3231.
