Tim Kane named Interim Football Coach at Plainfield North

Plainfield North High School has named Tim Kane as its Interim Football Coach for the remainder of the 2006 season. Kane has been an assistant coach in the program since the school opened in August 2005, instructing the offensive and defensive linemen.

Kane has accumulated 11 years of experience as a head football coach, including three years at Knoxville (Ill.) High School (1994-96), six seasons at Collinsville (Ill.) High School (1997-2002) and two years at Washington (Ill.) High School (2003-04). At all of his stops, he has increased participation in the football program. His teams have combined for a record of 40-52.

Kane held football assistant coaching positions at Centralia (Ill.) High School and East Peoria High School before earning his first head coaching job at Knoxville. He led that squad to back-to-back winning seasons in 1995 and 1996.

Kane then moved on to Collinsville, where he led the Kahoks to the best season in school history in 1998; they went 8-2 and notched both their first-ever state ranking and home playoff game. He was named the St. Louis Metro East Coach of the Year following that season, and left as the school’s all-time winningest football coach (21 wins) since the 1960’s. At Washington, his 2004 squad finished 6-5 and advanced to the second round of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) state playoffs.

Kane is in his 16th year as a teacher or administrator at the high school level. He has taught biology, chemistry and physical science, and served as the Chair of the Science Department during his tenure at Collinsville. After serving as a chemistry instructor at Plainfield North in 2005-06, he was promoted to the position of Dean of Students for the 2006-07 school year.

Kane received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Millikin University in 1991, and a master’s degree in education administration from Western Illinois University in 1998.

Plainfield North is one of three high schools in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, and is located at 12005 S. 248th Street in Plainfield. District 202 is currently comprised of 25 schools that serve more than 26,500 students.
