Seven Plainfield South grads receive AP Scholar distinction
Seven 2006 Plainfield South High School graduates have earned the designation of "AP Scholar" by the College Board, thanks to their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) Exams.
Nick Edds was cited with the "AP Scholar with Distinction" award after scoring a "5" on seven different exams. He averaged better than a 3.5 on his AP Exams.
Emily Barnard was tabbed with the "AP Scholar with Honor" award after scoring a "5" on three separate exams. She averaged better than a 3.25 on her AP Exams.
Five students - Mark Aujla, Alaina Bates, Julia Drauden, Matthew Duchene and Joseph Kain - were given the "AP Scholar" award by completing three or more AP Exams and scoring at least a "3" on each test.
The College Board's AP Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging, college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. Of the more than 1.3 million students who took AP Exams in May 2006, less than 20 percent received the distinction of "AP Scholar."
