EXPLORE Testing approaches for District 202 eighth graders

EXPLORE testing for the Class of 2011 at Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 schools will take place in December. The EXPLORE Test serves as a placement test for incoming freshmen at Plainfield High School-Central Campus, Plainfield North High School and Plainfield South High School.

The EXPLORE Test is an assessment that measures students' abilities in English usage, mathematics, reading and science reasoning. Department chairpersons at each high school use the results of this testing, as well as a student's performance in middle school course work, to make placement recommendations at the ninth grade level.

Where an eighth grader takes the EXPLORE Test depends on where he or she attends middle school within District 202. The schedule for testing is listed below:

Saturday, December 2: Indian Trail Middle School, Timber Ridge Middle School and St. Mary Immaculate students will test at Plainfield High School-Central Campus

Saturday, December 9: Heritage Grove Middle School and Ira Jones Middle School students will test at Plainfield North High School

Saturday, December 9: Aux Sable Middle School and Drauden Point Middle School students will test at Plainfield South High School.

EXPLORE testing runs from 7:45-11 a.m.; students who will take the writing sample for Honors English placement will finish by noon.

Each high school will also host EXPLORATIONS 2011 on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. The evening will include information on the course selection process, the variety of available school activities, and other school information. Parents should contact the appropriate high school
