Foundation for Excellence Haunted Barn to show why some secrets should be kept
Just east of Route 59 on 135th Street in Plainfield, a dark secret lurks in a barn at Eaton Preserve. And as people can find out later this month, there are some secrets that should be kept.
The Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence will sponsor the Eaton Preserve Haunted Barn nightly from Thursday, October 26 through Sunday, October 29. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Foundation for Excellence, an independent, non-profit organization that enriches and supplements educational programs and experiences within District 202.
Volunteer Ken Erdey is heading up the Haunted Barn project, and has been responsible for everything from creating the background story to the construction of props and the set. Erdey has been assisted by community volunteers and students from each District 202 high school. The district's Service Learning program and Plainfield Academy have played a large role in preparations for the event. The Plainfield Park District has generously allowed the Foundation to use the Eaton Preserve barn.
Admission for the event is $10 per person. Tours of the barn will run from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, October 26 and Sunday, October 30 and from 6-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, October 27 and 28. The barn is located just east of Route 59 on 135th Street, behind the new Meijer store. The barn is intended for guests 13 years and older.
