Santa visiting Drauden Point event on December 8

Eighth graders at Drauden Point Middle School are sponsoring a family holiday night on Friday, December 8 from 6-8 p.m. The event will serve as a fundraiser for Aunt Martha's Youth Service Center in Chicago Heights.

The eighth grade advisory classes have spent time developing positive character virtues such as citizenship, responsibility and caring during preparation for this project. The goal is to raise money and purchase necessities and gifts for children who are less fortunate during the holiday season.

The family holiday night will include a bake sale and a book fair. The highlight of the night will be Santa's Workshop, which will be provided for children from toddler age through 10 years old. That part of the program will include activities such as cookie decorating, ornament making, pictures with Santa Claus and more.

Admission is $5 for the first child in a family, and $3 for each child after that.

Drauden Point is one of six middle schools in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202. It is located at 1911 Drauden Road in Plainfield.
