At its December 18th meeting, the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education named three new schools - two elementary schools and one middle school - that will open in fall 2007.

An elementary school located in the Crossings of Wolf Creek subdivision in the northwest portion of the district will be named Freedom Elementary School. Another elementary school, located in the Windsor Ridge subdivision in the southwest portion of the district, will be named Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Finally, a middle school located north of Foxridge Farms subdivision in the northeast portion of the district will be named John F. Kennedy Middle School.

These names were selected from the 80 entrants submitted by the District 202 community.
