Drauden Point to welcome author Jordan Sonnenblick on October 2

Drauden Point Middle School will welcome noted author Jordan Sonnenblick for an assembly at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 1. Sonnenblick is the author of "Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie," as well as the recently released "Notes From the Midnight Driver."

Sonnenblick's works connect with the teenage reader. Students who have had his latest work - "Notes From the Midnight Driver" - read to them in class will have the opportunity to listen to Sonnenblick discuss the book. He will also engage in a question-and-answer session about the book, and will be available to autograph copies of "Midnight Driver."

The book follows the path of a young man named Alex, who gets in trouble with the law before his life changes, thanks to encounters with a senior citizen named Solomon Lewis. Sonnenblick's previous work, "Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie," was named to several ‘Best of 2005' lists, including the American Library Association's "Teens' Top Ten."

Sonnenblick's visit is a continuation of the business and education partnership between Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 and Anderson's Bookshops.

Drauden Point is one of six middle schools in District 202, and is located at 1911 Drauden Road in Plainfield.
