Sale of holiday cards to benefit Tim Fix Scholarship Fund

Holiday cards to benefit the Tim Fix Memorial Scholarship Fund will be available for purchase soon.

A set of 10 holiday cards costs $20, and can be purchased at Gourmet Junction (505 W. Lockport Street, Plainfield). They may also be obtained by contacting Lincoln Elementary School social worker (and Fix’s mother) Laura Fahrner at (815) 436-3103 or Plainfield High School-Central Campus campus monitor Jon Ryan.

Fix was a 1990 graduate of then-Plainfield High School, and was a three-time state qualifier in wrestling. He went on to compete as a collegiate wrestler at Eastern Illinois University, where he qualified for NCAA Championship competition twice. He passed away in a drowning accident in 1996, days before he was to earn his diploma.

The Tim Fix Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship opportunities to selected Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 students who move on to college. Over the past 10 years, nearly $100,000 of scholarship money has been distributed. Last year, 24 $500 scholarships were awarded from the Tim Fix Memorial Scholarship Fund.
