Well, it's time for me to take a little time off. Community Relations will be in the capable hands of Community Relations Coordinator Lauren McFarland, and Web Designer Ryan Boyce. Meanwhile, the news continues, as always.
But first, a few important points:
- This year marks the 25th anniversary for the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence. The Foundation is a private group that formed in 1983 to raise money to support and bolster teaching and learning in District 202. This group of incredible volunteers has raised and donated more than $250,000 to our students and schools, and shows no signs of slowing down. Kudos, and 25 years worth of thanks, to the Foundation.
- We continue to get questions about a postcard sent by the Plainfield Alumni Association seeking updated information about Plainfield High School graduates. Here is some information we shared a few weeks ago about this situation:
The new Plainfield Alumni Association - a private citizens group that formed about a year ago - is working with the Foundation - another private group - to update its alumni registry. They have hired a private company to do this job. College alumni associations do this routinely (as do many high school ones.) They gather information about alums that their classmates would be interested in knowing, to be used for mailings, homecoming information, newsletters, etc. The same information is also published in a directory which alums can then buy to keep up with their former classmates.
To ease any concerns, while this project is not directly associated with the school district, it is a legitimate project. Please answer (or don't answer) these questions as you feel comfortable doing. You don't have to answer if you don't want to do so.
