We prepare learners for the future.
District 202 Education Partners, hello!

Well, we made it through the first two days of school without a major storm. That's a huge improvement over last year!

As always, there is news. But first, a few important notes:
  • Ira Jones Middle School, in conjunction with State Senator Linda Holmes' office and the office of Attorney General Lisa Madigan, will hold an Internet Safety Night at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at the school, 15320 Wallin Drive, Plainfield. Please see the item below for more information on this important topic.
  • District 202's preschool and elementary schools will hold Curriculum Nights in August and September to let parents and guardians see what their students will be learning this year, talk to teachers and view their schools. Please see the item below for more information.
  • Our friends at the Plainfield Public Library will hold their Used Book Sale from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. August 22-23, 2008 at the library. Children's books will be sold for 25 cents, paperbacks for 50 cents or three for $1, and hardcover books will be sold for $1 each or 3/$2.50. Series romance paperbacks will go for 25 cents each or 10 for $1. All teachers and media personnel will receive one free book at the sale.
  • Kudos to Indian Trail Middle School 8th grade teacher Eric Ott, who ran -- and won the men's portion of -- the recent Naperville Sprint Triathlon, which included nearly 2,000 competitors. Click here for more information: http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/
New Photos This Week

  • Eagle Pointe Elementary School -- Kindergarten Scavenger Hunt
  • Bess Eichelberger Elementary School -- First Day of School
  • Plainfield East High School -- First Day of Classes
Finally, following up on the difficulties many elementary school parents experienced, waiting for their students' classroom assignment cards, we have already decided to use a new system next year to reduce the delays in getting that information to our families. We will use the Parent Web Module, since it is faster, and is secure. We hope this improvement comes as good news.

Have a great weekend,
