District 202 Education Partners, hello!
Looks like we're in for a warm, dry Labor Day weekend. Here's hoping no one has to "labor" too hard...
As always, there is lots of news about District 202 posted below. But first, a few important notes:
- This week State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher Koch visited Plainfield East High School to observe one of the three ELL teachers hired from Mexico this spring through a special State hiring initiative and cultural exchange program. A visit from the state superintendent is a rare opportunity, and we were honored and flattered by his kind words about our commitment to serving the educational needs of all of our students. Check out the story and pictures below.
- District 202 middle and high schools, and Plainfield Academy, the district's alternative school, will hold curriculum nights in September to let parents and guardians see what their students will be learning this year, talk to teachers and view their schools. See the item below for more information.

Finally, all in all the first week of the 2008-2009 school year has gone smoothly. There were some of the usual growth-related bumps with transportation, classroom assignments, etc. But, thanks to all of our families, students and staff, we once again have this ship moving in the right direction for another exciting year of learning, teaching, growth and achievement.

Wesmere E.S. outdoor classroom takes learning to a new arena
The newest "classroom" at Wesmere Elementary School isn't really a room at all. It doesn't have walls, desks, chairs, white boards or many of the other typical items found in a classroom.

Meadow View E.S. students prepare for a lesson in manners

More than 350 people visited Plainfield South High School on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 to celebrate being a Cougar and kick off the start of a successful high school career.
