of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202
We prepare learners for the future.
District 202 Education Partners, hello!

Here we are, smack dab in the the dog days of summer. That high-pitched sound you hear in the distance is either puppy whining in the yard, or the kids complaining because school starts in two weeks...

The news never stops in District 202. But first a few important notes:
  • Information about the 2008-2009 Bus Runs is now posted on the front page of the District 202 web site (www.learningcommunity202.org). It is also posted under "Parents and Students" and "Schools." PLEASE NOTE: Bus assignments and route information can change because of changes to enrollment. Please continue to check this information frequently as school approaches.
  • Another reminder that he Plainfield Police Department will conduct an “active shooter drill” at Plainfield North High School from 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008. The police will use this drill to assess and improve their procedures for responding to a situation involving an intruder with a gun. District 202 is happy to partner with the police in this important exercise. Drill participants will begin gathering and staging for the exercise at 7 a.m. at Heritage Grove Middle School. Various roads around Plainfield North High School will be temporarily closed and traffic will be rerouted during the drill, as it would be during a real crisis. The entire exercise should be complete, the area cleared and roads re-opened by about 12:30 p.m. For more information please call Plainfield Police Department Commander John Konopek at (815) 439-4803.
  • The summer edition of "The Core" newsletter is on its way to all 52,000 mailboxes in our district. But, it's available now to you, special, here in electronic form. This issue includes an overview of the district's 2007-2008 Progress and 2008-2009 Plans to meet the four goals set by the Board of Education which guide all of our work. As always, we made significant progress and have a lot on our plates for the coming year, all aimed at helping ALL of our children learn and grow. Illinois Street, in the heart of downtown Plainfield. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. August 22-23, 2008 at the library.
