Important Information:

- YPA meetings will be on the following:

May 4th Monday, May 11th Monday, May 18th Monday, and May 27th Wednesday.

- May 27th Meeting will be lasting longer than normal. Since this is the last meeting of the 2008-2009 school year, there is a lot of business to be attended to for the 2009-2010 school year. All members are required to come, and any students interested in YPA particaption next year. Incoming Freshman are also welcome to come. The meeting may last anywhere up to 6:00pm. Food will be served. More information will be discussed on the May 18th meeting. Incoming freshman can call +1-815-735-6474.

- Annual Fee for the YPA had been cut in half! You will only need to pay $5.00 for the 2008-2009 School Year. Annual Fee is due at the May 4th meeting. Dues can be turned into Room 1401 and/or any YPA Officer.

-YPA is now on Facebook. After school be sure to search "Young Politicians of America" for the YPA Fan Group on Facebook.

Upcoming Meetings:

May 4th, Monday - Our first meeting with our brand new Treasurer Mr. John Slivestry. We will be planning our last event and community serivce [DuPage River Sweep]. This meeting will also be the first meeting with some big changes from President Alexander Rodriguez on the running of the meeting. All meetings in May will be very important to our members.

May 11th, Monday - We will continue to go through motions and its process. A new Officer position will be announced and a member will be appointed. All DuPage River Sweep forms are due at this time. Please be there, and be ready for full attention and cooperation.

Upcoming Events:

Saturday, May 16th: DuPage River Sweep [May's Community Service] - We will be particpating in the 18th Annual Plainfield DuPage River Sweep. We will help remove debris and litter from the DuPage River and tributary areas to improve water quality, reduce flood risk, and enhance safety for people and animals who rely on the DuPage River for recreation and habitat.  We are also invited to enjoy a post-event barbecue at the Plainfield Park District’s Mather Woods facility. The DuPage River Sweep is a regional stream cleanup that is held annually to encourage citizens and volunteers to help “sweep our rivers clean” by picking up debris in and along the DuPage River. The event has been held since 1991, during which time more than 8,000 volunteers have removed more than 185 tons of garbage from the DuPage River.  The River Sweep will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 16th. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Plainfield Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street; then teams are formed and dispatched to various cleanup sites throughout the Village. A barbecue will be held for participants beginning at noon at the Mather Woods shelter on Renwick Road, east of Drauden Road. Waiver Forms are due by May 11th!
