The Joliet Police Department and Plainfield South High School have partnered to begin an electronic device registration program for students and staff.  This program is a proactive crime prevention measure to address the potential problem of electronic device thefts in our high school.  Students and staff will be able to register their electronic devices with Detective Kneller; by filling out an electronic device registration form.  This form will collect the serial number, make, model, color, and a brief description of the student’s electronic device.  Electronic device must be present at the time of the registration.  The information will be entered into a database which will be accessible by the police and school administration.  Students will also undergo a brief counseling session regarding theft prevention and receive a theft prevention tips handout.  The pre-registration of electronic device is not meant to replace a theft report, but it will act as another tool in the investigation of any stolen or missing item, and perhaps serve as a deterrent to prevent some thefts.  Registration will begin soon during lunch periods, and will continue for the rest of the school year.  For more information   please  contact  Detective  Kneller  at   815/577-5618 or jkneller@psd202.org
