MINUTES OF PLAINFIELD SOUTH COUGAR BOOSTERS MEETING

                                                       Held March 3,2008

Call to Order: Kevin Voda called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m., at Plainfield South High School.

 

Secretary's Report: The minutes from February2008 were submitted. The minutes were reviewed and motion was approved.

 

Treasurer's report: Report submitted on activity on the account this last month, Checking account balance is $4,463.68. 

 

Principal's Report: Mr. Goggins first wanted to thank the bowling fundraising committee for their hard work and dedication that lead to another great bowling fund-raiser.  The Hoops and Hearts dance was a great success and Special Olympics had a great turnout this year as well. He then passed a hand out and reported on the connect-ed message that was put out today in regards to the rumor of weapons at school.

 

 Athletic Director's Report: Mr. Yanello reported winter season is over and spring season has begun.  He reported great participation numbers for these sports.  Badminton has their first contest Monday. 

 

Activities Director's Report:    

Mr. Albright discussed that we recently hosted the District Choir/Band Festival. The Chess team placed 18th in the State Competition out of 200 teams.  2 students won medals at the State competition.  In the Conference Scholastic Bowl we placed in the top half of the conference.  Student Krysten Vega had the honor of singing the National Anthem at the IHSA championship finals.   

 

Committee Reports 

Awards/Scholarship: Mrs. Johnson reported the winners of the Cougar Pride Award were Tim Boe, Mike Briscoe and Ronda Jenkins and the Lifetime Membership award went to Melanie Jones and Kevin Voda.  Scholarship applications have been distributed and winners will be chosen next month. Donations are coming in everyday.

Fundraising:    The Annual Bowling Bash was a great success again this year as we had 94 couples participating.  We raised $4386.00 this year.  Next years bowling fund-raiser is scheduled for March 7, 2009 at Town and Country.

Concessions:    Mr. Serafini reported that this year we have paid approx. $6,000 out to clubs for working concessions.  A report with expense/revenue breakdown was submitted. 

 

Old Business: Next years officers were discussed.  A slate was introduced with Kevin Voda as president, Karen Serafini as Vice president, Mike Bachner as treasurer and Kathy Diehl as Secretary.

 

New Business: 

Track coaches Crowe and Houston presented for the Track team in need of some new poles for the pole vault team.  Asked for Boosters to pay for 1 new pole and Mr. Yanello would buy 2 new poles totaling 3.  Motion: Kim Battcher, Second Kathy Diehl.  Motioned Passed.
