Homework Policy
Homework is a very important component of learning a foreign language. Therefore, we will most likely have homework every night (even if homework is not officially assigned, you should always be practicing and reviewing). Homework is due the day after it is assigned unless otherwise noted. You are expected to have your homework completed and out on your desk at the beginning of the class period for full credit. Partial credit may be given for incomplete work. Any assignment turned in after the assigned due date may receive partial to no (zero) credit. (If you have an unexcused absence you will not be able to make up any work missed.) All assignments must be turned in to the teacher in good condition. Folded, ripped, or crinkled papers will not be accepted! You must write both your first and last names on your assignments in order to receive credit. If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibilty to see me to make up your missed work.
Tests/Quizzes
• Tests and quizzes will normally be announced two or more days in advance. There is, however, the possibility that pop quizzes will be given.
• We will usually have at least one quiz per week (lesson quiz or vocabulary quiz).
• We will have chapter tests approximately every 4-5 weeks.
• If you have an excused absence the day of the test/quiz, you will need to see the teacher to arrange a time at the teacher’s convenience to make up the missed test/quiz. If you are unexcused (or truant) the day of the test/quiz, you will not be able to make it up and you will automatically receive a 0 (zero). No exceptions!
• You are expected to respect your fellow classmates while taking a test/quiz. When you are finished, please work on something quietly until everyone is finished. Talking during a test/quiz will automatically result in a 0 (zero)!

Test Re-take Policy
The Foreign Language Department has agreed upon a test re-take policy. If you score lower than a C (70%) on a chapter test, you may re-take the test under the following circumstances:
• You must work with the teacher after school for 30 minutes to review the material that was covered on the test on a day that is convenient for the teacher.
• After completing the study session, you may schedule to re-take the test on another day with the teacher.
• The re-take test may not be the exact same test, but it will cover the same material.
• The first test and the second test will be averaged for a final test score.
• The re-take must occur within two weeks of the original test date.

Projects
Projects will be assigned throughout each term to incorporate cultural activities and allow the student to apply language skills in context. These projects will be done individually and in small groups.
Class Participation
Class participation is essential to learning a foreign language. Most activities in class require active participation by each student. Since it is difficult for the teacher to assign daily points, each student will complete a daily self-evaluation of their participation. These points will be totaled at the end of each week for a grade. If the teacher strongly disagrees with the self-evaluation, a conference will be held to discuss the grade. In order to participate in class, each student must come prepared to every class. This includes bringing the textbook (covered), workbook, notebook, binder, and pens/pencils. If a student does not come prepared to class, he/she will not receive any participation points for that day.
The participation card will be removed by the teacher if the student is off task, talking, chewing gum, or disrupting the class and the student will not receive any points for that day.
