The Soubrettes form a women’s chamber ensemble open by audition only. The Soubrettes will perform music of many different cultures and historical periods, and they take their name from a stock character in 18th century opera. The soubrette was a clever female servant or lady’s maid often given to intrigue. She frequently combined her wealth of information and her social assets to manipulate situations to her benefit. |
