Course Description:

Our journey into specifically English literature begins with the Anglo-Saxon writings and travels through the 17th century.  A variety of authors and poets will guide us through our journey into British Literature tradition.  If you have elected to continue the journey into second semester, we will venture into literature spanning the Restoration period through the Modern/Contemporary eras.  Both a literary context and historical context will aid our study.  Important developments in the English language will be reviewed throughout the course, as well as honing and perfecting our literary analysis skills.  This course is designed to challenge students and give students a broader sense of the development of literature as a foundation for further study at the college level.
