To Any and All Incoming Calculus Students:

I hope you know what you are getting yourself into.  Seriously.  Actually, calculus was a pretty fun class, especially with Ms. Finn as a teacher.  Remember, if you need any help whatsoever, just ask.  She is here for hours before and after school, and will go to the end of the world if it will help you pass a calc test.

Just make sure you pay attention in class.  If you don’t, you can always try teaching yourself the material at home, but that is a little harder.  Calculus for Dummies is a great investment for the year, if you feel like purchasing it.  That book helped me a lot when I missed two weeks second semester.  Take LEGIBLE notes in class to reference when at home, respect Ms. Finn, and do NOT stress too much over any single problem.  Leave it and keep going, then you can ask about it the next day.  Ms. Finn answers all, and sometimes she’ll feel “too lazy” (which is a VERY GOOD THING) and give you an easier way to solve a problem.

I’m sure you will do great.  Don’t be intimidated by the weird symbols, the long speech your teacher may or may not start the year with, or the tough problems you’ll meet two months into the year.  I won’t lie: Calculus was a very difficult class.  Make sure you do what you are told if you want to pass.  I have never gotten an A in high school math, but at the rate I am going, I will this year.  Have fun and love Ms. Finn.

Sincerely,
