Dear Calculus student:
First off, congratulations on making it to one of the most prestigious mathematics classes on all of the school. Surely you must be proud of the hard work you’ve invested in your high school career. From a student who’s experienced this course, I encourage you to seriously consider working diligently in this class especially if you plan to enroll in higher education in the near future.
Over the course of the school year, I recommend taking notes each and every single day. Obviously, do all of your homework to get used to the notations and methods that you will be accustomed to pretty soon. Do not hesitate to ask as many questions as you’d like and I do advice keeping your teacher’s contact information in times of emergency. It is guaranteed that you will need help along the year.
Now, should you take the AP Exam? Heck, I say “go for it!” Put it this way- you essentially are a high school student in a college classroom. Your work here qualifies as a first-year college course, which grants you the ability to start early in your college career.
So, good luck with your endeavors. I hope that you do well in this course. Be a good student and always ask for help, even if it drives your teacher crazy.
Sincerely,
Mark
