Did you ever wonder why crackers are in different shapes?  Cracker designers tessellate patterns to form a cracker shape.  A tessellation is a pattern in which identical copies of a figure fill a plane so that there are no gaps or overlaps. They design the crackers this way to eliminate waste and to have more profit.

After viewing several shapes of crackers, you need to make up your own original design.

To do list:

Step 1.  Make a pattern of your design.

Step 2.  Copy the pattern on the piece of paper so there are no gaps or overlaps.  You must fill the whole piece of paper with your design.  Color each pattern a different color.

Step 3.  Design your own box for your cracker.  Give the cracker a name and make sure the pattern, what the cracker looks like, is on the front of the box.

How to design your own cracker.

Step 1.  Start off with a  2 in. by 2 in. square.

Step 2. If you cut one side then you have to add it to the opposite side in exactly the same places.
