Precalculus Honors

 

Course Title:  PRECALCULUS HONORS
Grade Open to:  11-12       Semester: 1 & 2       Credit: 1.0
Prerequisite Course/Grade Recommendation:  Placement in Honors Sequence / C or better in Algebra 2 Honors
Fees:  None
This course is designed for students who have demonstrated a strong foundation in Algebra II Honors and is the prerequisite for Calculus Honors.  All of the topics in Precalculus will be covered in greater depth and at a more accelerated pace.  More emphasis is placed upon the theory of equations and topics will be approached from a graphic, numeric, and symbolic points of view.
Graphics calculator required (TI-83+, TI-84 or TI84+ preferred).

PreCalculus is an in depth study at an accelerated pace of the following topics:

  1. Review of algebra concepts
  2. Functions and Graphs
  3. Polynomial and Rational functions
  4. Exponential and Logarithmic functions
  5. Trigonometry
  6. Analytic trigonometry
  7. Additional topics in trigonometry
  8. Polar equations and coordinate system
  9. System of equations and inequalities
  10. Sequences, counting principles, and probability
  11. Vectors
  12. Introduction to limits
