OBJECTIVES

The students will learn physical education, fitness and wellness concepts that they can incorporate into their everyday lives, today and the future.  The students will also participate in the physical education class to achieve a basic of exercise for the day.

Recreational Games is designed to promote life long activities.    HAVE FUN!

 

UNITS

 

8/28-10/5    Lawn games including Horseshoes, Bocce ball, and Croquet

 

10/9-11/20  Bags, Ping Pong, Handball

 

11/26-1/11  Shuffleboard, Darts, Washers

 

 

DAILY CLASS EXPECTATIONS

 

  1. Be on time by being in your alphabetical spot in the attendance line when the bell rings.
  2. Dress out each day for class.  This includes a “Fit For Life” PE shirt with your name printed on the back and front of the shirt.  FIT FOR LIFE SHIRTS WITH GRAFFITTI, SLEEVES CUT OFF, OR ALTERED IN ANYWAY ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.  Wear athletic pants/shorts and athletic shoes.  JEANS AND SANDALS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR DANCE CLASS AND WILL BE CONSIDERED A NO DRESS.
  3. After returning from the locker room, ALL students are to walk the track including non-dressers.
  4. Warm ups are considered an essential element of the class in preventing injury and promoting fitness.  Lack of participation of warm up will result in losing 10 points for the day.
  5. CELL PHONES WILL NOT BE BROUGHT TO CLASS.  Ipods will only be allowed on fitness days.
  6. ABSOLUTLEY NO FOOD OR DRINK IN THE FIELD HOUSE.  The Field House is yours to learn and enjoy.  Please treat it with respect.
  7. ABSENCES-Make up work for any absences is due by the end of the 6 Week grading period.  Refer to blue sheets.
  8. On fitness days, you are to sign up for activities.  If you are not dress for any reason or have not passed the test you will be sent to a classroom. 

 

GRADING

50%-Participation  includes point deductions for absences, no dresses, failure to participate in warm ups/class activities.  This will also include participation in choreographed routines.

 

20%-Knowledge-Tests, quizzes, worksheets and any other written assignment. 

 

30%-Fitness-Fitness testing and participation on fitness days.
