Lab Notebook Expectations

 

The lab notebook is a record of everything you do in the laboratory.  It must be a quadrille ruled composition book for making tables and graphs.

 

 

SET-UP

1.  The first page should be titled "Table of Contents".  In the upper right corner, number page 1.  You will number all the pages as you use them in the upper right corner.  Number the next two pages, 2 and 3.  You will log all your labs in the table of contents on pages 1-3.

2.  Your labs will start on page 4.  You will be required to have the following:

                    Title

                Date - This is the date or dates the lab was performed.

                Partners

                Purpose/Hypothesis - This can sometimes be copied directly

from the assigned lab.

                Safety - Listed out.

                    Procedure - Step by step with sketches where appropriate. 

In addition, you should update it when appropriate if

you make a change to a part of the procedure.

Data - Make sure to include qualitative and quantitative date. 

Use the grid to make columns for tables when

appropriate.

Calculations

Results/Conclusions - Every lab requires a conclusion and

should relate to the purpose/hypothesis.  It should also

make reference to what has been learned in the classroom.

3.  At the end of the lab, you will sign your full name and date.
