Welcome to Resource!

Policies and Procedures

In order to have a classroom environment in which learning takes place, there must be a set of policies and procedures that are always followed. Listed below, you will find the policies and procedures for this classroom.

What is the attendance policy?

Resource is a graded class, just like all others. Therefore, when you are in attendance at school, you are also expected to be in Resource.

Does it really matter if I am tardy?

You are expected to be in the classroom, and in your seat, when the bell rings. You will be given one free tardy, and the second tardy will result in a ½ hour detention to be served on the day designated by the teacher. If you are tardy a third time, you will receive a 1-hour detention and a phone call home. A fourth tardy is a 2-hour detention, a fifth tardy is a 4-hour Saturday detention, and if you are to receive a 6th tardy, you could be in danger of being removed from the class. This policy is outlined in your student handbook.

What do you need to bring to Resource?

You need to be prepared for class everyday. In order to be prepared for class, you must have all of the following:

  1. Writing utensil
  2. Agenda book
  3. Assignments to be completed
  4. Textbook(s)

How am I expected to enter the classroom?

You are expected to walk, not run, into this classroom. As stated in the tardy policy, you will be tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings. Therefore, running into the classroom at the bell is still a tardy and should not be done.

What do you do when the bell rings?

When the bell rings, wait for your teacher to give you instructions. IF you have Resource 2nd period, then you will QUIETLY stand for the pledge, and then listen to the announcements. There is to be no talking during the pledge and announcements.

How is Resource graded?

You can receive 8 points a day. In order to pass Resource, you need to accumulate at least 70% of the daily points. You will be graded on the following 8 criteria:

What do I do when I am taking a test in Resource?

If you are taking a test in Resource, then you need to be sitting away from the other students. You also need to remain quiet, and direct your questions to a teacher or assistant ONLY! When you finish the test, you need to make sure that your name is at the top, your teacher’s name is on the top, and then put it in the completed test bin.

What is the bathroom policy?

If you need to use the washroom, you first need to obtain permission from a Resource teacher.

Will there be textbooks that I can borrow?

If you need to borrow a textbook, you will need to ASK PERMISSION first. There is a sign-out sheet that needs to be completed when you borrow the book AND when you return the book. Your teacher will need to mark down his/her initials when the book is returned.

Computers, yeah! Can I go to candystand.com?

If you need to use a computer, you will need to ASK PERMISSION first. There is a sign-out sheet that needs to be completed before you sit down by a computer. The computers WILL ONLY be used for academic reasons!

Can I borrow your supplies?

If you need to borrow supplies, you will need to ASK PERMISSION first. When you are finished with the item(s) that you borrowed, you need to return it to the Resource teacher.

What do I do when a pass is delivered?

If an office pass is delivered to the classroom, you are to remain in your seat. The teacher is the only person who will take the pass. The teacher will then decide if the pass needs to be given immediately or at the end of class. You are not to yell out comments regarding the pass (i.e. “Oooooo,” “Who’s it for?” “Uh, I bet that’s for me!”).

When can you sit in the classroom?

You will be sitting in your assigned seat. You ARE NOT allowed to sit on the desks, tables, or the counter.
