CLUBS
Extracurricular Activities
Even though learning in the academic areas is the primary purpose of any school program, extra-curricular activities are also an extremely valuable area where students share accomplishments and learning experiences beyond those which occur in the classroom. A wide variety of activities are available and we strongly encourage all of our students to become involved in one or more of them.

Drama Club Sponsor: Sue Raslowsky
This year the Drama Club will be performing a combined holiday performance with the chorus in December and a musical “The Shoemaker and the Elves” in April. To be in a production, the students will have a 30 minute singing and acting audition. Each student will sign up for a day and block of time that their audition will take place.
During try-outs they will be asked to do three things:
- Students will be asked to perform a fully memorized monologue.
- Students will be asked to sing a song from the play.
- Students will participate in a cold reading from the script.
Dramatically, the student will be judged on memorization, vocal expression, projection, gestures, facial expressions, movement and energy. Musically, students will be judged on singing ability and vocal range.
Each student that is selected for a role in the play will be committed to a rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals will be after school. The schedule will contain the days and times the students are expected to attend rehearsal. Each student is required to attend every rehearsal they are scheduled for. If a student misses three rehearsals, they may be removed from the play. Students must stay in the designated area during tryouts and rehearsals. Friends are not allowed during tryouts or rehearsals unless cleared by the director. Students who do not follow these rules or other Aux Sable rules will be warned and if the inappropriate behavior continues they will be dismissed from the production.
Students who want to be part of the theatre assemble but do not want to be on stage, can be part of the stage crew. Students with computer skills will be empowered to design show shirts, tickets, flyers, and programs. Students will work on costumes and assist with the stage make-up sessions. We will also need artists to help paint the set and make props. If students are strong, they will be needed to move the set during the last couple weeks of rehearsal and production dates.
We become a family during the rehearsal process. Being part of the Drama Club is fun, exciting, hard work, and very rewarding. Hearing the laughter and applause from the audience is FANTASTIC!

H.O.T. Club
Does your child need a quiet place where they can do their homework assignments or projects? Does your child need a little help in understanding a topic that was discussed in class? Well, the Aux Sable Middle School Homework or Tutoring (H.O.T.) Club can help.
The H.O.T. Club is a place where Aux Sable students can spend one hour after school working on their homework, projects or receive some individualized tutoring. The club is staffed by Ms. Meghan Watson and Mrs. Kristina Spear. Here is more information:
- H.O.T. Club meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 2:45-3:45 in Room 111.
- You must sign in and out.
- No appointment is needed.
- Bring all materials you need. You will not be allowed to return to your locker after H.O.T. Club.
- All school rules will be enforced. If you are being disruptive, or are not working on something, your parents will be called to pick you up.
- Have a ride here by 3:30. There is no bus service for this program. You may walk home if you are normally a walker.
- You can choose when you want to come to the program. Some students come everyday and others come only when they feel they need to.
- Computers are only to be used for typing or working on research for a school assignment. You will not be able to email, play games, or search the web for fun during this time.
If you believe that the H.O.T. Club can be beneficial to your child, please encourage them to stay after school and take advantage of this opportunity.
