Dear Aux Sable Learning Community:
Welcome to the Aux Sable Middle School Media Center Web Page.
Aux Sable Middle School is beginning its second year as a member of the rapidly growing Plainfield School District. Our student body has increased to about 1100 students, and our professional staff has increased proportionately.
The LRC staff is always looking for new ways to support our growing population.
Aux Sable and Indian Trail Middle Schools have moved to a modified block schedule for the 2007-2008 school year. This move has eliminated study halls which have been replaced by guided enrichment periods. Last year, students would often visit the LRC during study halls to check-out or exchange books. Now, individual students must find time before school, during lunch or after school to visit the LRC. Some teachers are scheduling regular visitation periods so that their students can check-out new books on a regular basis.
To accommodate the new time crunch, the LRC staff is available from 7: 00 AM until 3: 00 PM, except on days when after-school meetings are held in the LRC or on Fridays. In those cases the staff leaves at 2:46 PM. Parents are welcome to visit the LRC at any time. We also welcome parent volunteers who wish to help support the LRC.
Two book fairs will be held this year during parent conference weeks. The first is being held November 5 - 9, 2007. The LRC will be open during all Parent -Teacher conference periods, so please feel free to visit. Come in and have a cup of coffee with us.
The second book fair will be held during Parent-Teacher conference week in April, 2008. All profits from book fairs are immediately returned to the school in the form of additional books for student and classroom use. A big thank you is due to all the school and community members who support the LRC and our students by participating in the Aux Sable book fairs.
