Dear Families and Teachers of Gifted/Honors Education Students:
District 202 is working to form an advocacy and advisory group to serve the families, teachers, and students in the Gifted/Honors Education Program. Our purpose is to have an organization that can provide a forum to address the wide variety of needs of our gifted students. Once established, the group will develop its own direction and determine areas of focus.
Potential purposes of the advisory committee would be to provide opportunities for discussion and sharing of gifted issues, to create a connection with the National and Illinois Associations of Gifted Children (N.A.G.C., I.A.G.C.), to plan events and share resources to assist families of gifted children, and to create a newsletter for those involved in the Gifted/Honors Education Program in District 202.
Participation in this committee requires the school representative to be the district-wide communicator for Gifted/Honors Education families and teachers. The school representative will also share information with other parents of gifted students at their home school through various means of communication. This committee will provide opportunities for discussion and sharing of gifted issues for teachers and families of gifted students.
If you are interested in serving on this committee for the 2008-09 academic year, please fill out and return this application to your school’s principal’s office by April 4, 2008. We will contact those selected by April 30th, 2008.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to establishing this team to better serve our gifted population.
Sincerely,
Dr. Hector Garcia, Director of Curriculum & Instruction High School
Dr. Nancy Hayhurst, Director of Curriculum & Instruction Middle School
Mrs. Cathie Pezanoski, Director of Curriculum & Instruction Elementary
