2008-09 Kindergarten Registration

Current District 202 residents who will have students entering Kindergarten in the 2008-2009 are encouraged to register their students as soon as possible. To accommodate the busy schedules of our parents/legal guardians, students can be registered on any business day during this time period. All Kindergarten students living within the school district boundaries are guaranteed placement.

Children do not have to attend kindergarten. However, to attend Kindergarten in District 202, children must be 5 years old by September 1 of any school year.

Registration Schedule

Where: The Registrar's Office

When: March 3rd – April 30th, 2008

Time: Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
          Tuesday Evenings from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Please Note: During Spring Break the Registrar's office will have modified business hours. March 24th through March 28th we will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Parents can also register their kindergarten students from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at three special Saturday registration dates in March and April. These special dates are arranged by district "House" assignment. District 202 groups its schools into color-coded "Houses" for logistical purposes.

The special Saturday kindergarten registration dates are:

March 15, 2008 - Red House - Eagle Pointe Elementary School, 24562 Norwood Lane, Plainfield (Red House elementary schools are: Creekside, Eagle Pointe, Bess Eichelberger, Freedom, Liberty, Lincoln, and Walker's Grove)

April 12, 2008 - Green House - Lakewood Falls Elementary School, 14050 S. Budler Road, Plainfield (Green House elementary schools are: Central, Crystal Lawns, Grand Prairie, Lakewood Falls, and River View)

April 26, 2008 - Blue House - Meadow View Elementary School, 2501 Mirage Ave., Plainfield (Blue House elementary schools are: Charles Reed, Meadow View, Ridge, Thomas Jefferson, and Wesmere)

What Should I Bring With Me?

•  District 202 Kindergarten Registration Forms (Click here to download)

•  $63.00 for Kindergarten fees. Checks should be made payable to
        Plainfield School District 202

• Certified birth certificate. Please bring the official birth certificate issued by the county.
         Unfortunately we are unable to accept wallet size birth certificates if they do not list
         the parents’ names.

•  Any legal custody documents that pertain to the student, if applicable. This includes
         divorce decrees.

•  Three Documents to Prove Residency. All registrations require these documents, even if
         siblings are already registered in the district.

Category I – Provide at Least One or Two of the following Documents:

•  Most recent real estate tax bill showing me as the taxpayer
•  Signed lease for my residence
•  Settlement Statement/ Closing Statement, signed
•  Truth In Lending form from closing packet, signed
•  Warranty Deed, from closing packet
•  Completed Student Residency Questionnaire and notarized affidavit     (homeowner's proof of residency is also required.)

Category II – Provide at least One or Two of the following documents:

•  Driver's License
•  Utility bill
•  Public Aid card
•  Homeowner/ Renter's Insurance
•  Automobile Registration
•  Other __________________________

School physical examination and immunization records completed within 12 months of the start of the school year. Click here for Kindergarten health requirements. While this is not required at the time of registration, according to Illinois law it must be on file with the school before the student starts school in the fall. Please schedule your appointment early as doctors’ offices get very busy during the summer months.
