Author Visits
A Big thanks to author Paul Stewart and illustrator Chris Riddell for visiting Eagle Pointe Elementary School on February 20th. All of the 4th and 5th graders were impressed with the visit and are eagerly reading their books now. Mr. Riddell was kind enough to do a drawing of a "Banderbear" for our school. It is now on display in the Media Center.

Birthday Books
Celebrate your child's birthday or other special occasion by donating a new or gently used hardcover book to the Media Center! We will place a special nameplate in the book to commemorate your gift.
Cartridges for Kids®
Cartridges for Kids ® is throwing a party! One lucky classroom will win a pizza party!
How can you help?
Throughout the month of November, bring in qualifying printer cartridges, laptops, used cell phones and PDAs for recycling.
Laser cartridges = 1 point
Inkjet cartridges = 2 points
Cell phones = 2 points
Laptops with power cords = 10 points
PDAs (palm pilot, blackberry, etc.) = 10 points
The classroom with the most points wins! And, the Media Center earns up to $2 for inkjets, up to $12 for laser cartridges, up to $7 for PDAs, and up to $45 for used cell phones!
Why should we recycle?
In the U.S. almost 8 cartridges are thrown away every second. That's almost 700,000 cartridges per day! Half a gallon of oil is saved each time a laser cartridge is remanufactured. A cartridge takes 1,000 years to decompose. Recycling helps conserve our resources. |
