Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Sixth Grade Students:
Our school believes that technology should not be taught as a stand-alone subject, but should be applied as a tool available for all learning in all classes. The purpose of this course is to introduce a variety of essential technology skills necessary for success at the middle school level.
In this nine-week course students will use a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Ultra Key and Inspiration.
A portion of this class focuses on presentation design. Your student will be using Microsoft PowerPoint to create a brief autobiography. Although, it is not a requirement, some students enjoy adding a few family and personal photos. Due to the time constraints, we are unable to scan and convert images. However, appropriate digital images on a CD, disk or flash drive, are welcome.
The final product will be saved in your student’s personal folder on the Heritage Grove server and will be shown only to his/her class. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Ample time is allowed during class to complete assignments. Should a student need extra time due to illness or extenuating circumstances, the lab will be available by appointment.
We are excited about working with your child and pleased to have the opportunity to offer such a well-rounded and integrated approach to computer technology. Should you have any questions, a call or e-mail message from you is always welcome.
Sincerely,
Ms. Hentsch
