Seventh Grade General Music
I. Rhythm Unit
- includes rhythm and meter
- a final rhythm composition is written and performed
II. Note Name Unit
- includes both treble and bass clef
- pieces are played on different types of melodic instruments
III. World Music & African Drumming Unit
-Playing Tubanos, Djembes
IV. Jazz Unit
- study the basics of jazz lingo and improvisation
- look into the lives of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald.
V. Composer Unit
- research a composer and prepare a power point presentation
VI. Musical Unit
- Featured musical is "West Side Story"
8th Grade General Music
I. Rhythm Unit
-Students will compose and perform a rhythmic piece.

- Elvis, Chuck Berry, Beatles, Rolling Stones
IV. Musical Unit
- Featured musical will be "Fiddler On The Roof"
V. "Careers in Music" Project
- Students will research the qualifications and responsibilities of various musical careers.
